And we have LIFTOFF !!!

This morning i went to the DOT place and after a lot of back and forth, they said all is well, except they wanted to see the car to measure the front plate holder. The laws had changed and they do not allow 32cm (US size) anymore.

So get temp tags (pay money), drive back home, jump the Vette, put the rear temp tag on the car (and bend the ears in, as its a full 52cm plate), drive to the DOT place again, in rain.

He measured and said, yeah, it's silly, but i cant let you have a front 32cm plate. Has to be 36cm. It's for vanity only, so you'll have to get creative Ah well.. Spacers and some felt. Stupid law.. :x

But all is well, as when we went inside, he asked what combo i would like (We dont have vanity plates here, it has to be a regular combo, but you can pick, for 10 Euro) what combo you get, if it's available..

I say: SL

He goes: Do you want 1?

Me: Really???

Now we will drive around with F-SL 1 (like in the avatar pic, but that was a fake "made up" plate, not registered).

Once i get them mounted, i'll take some pics and this saga should be done !

Sunday morning Project, a.k.a. How to mount a 36cm plate on a 32cm holder:

It took me a nights awake but i did get a little Creative ( as fear set's in).. I am still in awe that i got the license number i did.. Cant wait for Spring to arrive to show it off..

Ingredients:
(2x Spring loaded Ceiling mounts, 6 hard rubber spacers for sinks, 2x rubber pads for kid's helmets)

Fuddle all ingredients through the back of the front bumper:

I can't say it looks good Stefan, but it's the best it's going to get... When they give you lemons, make lemonade!!!

Can you make up a plate that will fit the opening better, sort of like the C5 has? If you can paint it the silver-beige at least it wouldn't leave the hole that's there now.

If you could fab something like that up for both the front and back I think it would look better, if not at least your still driving the coolest looking car arount!

Cut a thin piece of foam board to fit the area as close as possible, fiberglass it and paint it. You could even mold in the work Corvette, or the emblem if you decided to get fancy!
