I was surfing around Eckler's website and found myself viewing all the different gear ratios available to our 82 CE's and was wondering what ours comes with from the factory and what the others can do for performance?
Thanks, Jules :?

2.73 I think is stock.

Performance suffers and highway mileage improves.

I swapped a 700R4 into a full size Impala that had 3.54 gears. It made a good combination.

It's been said in several press articles that a gear swap is the fastest way to performance with late C3's. Expensive though.

We have two rear axles: 2.72 and 2.87

Most standard suspension got the 2.72 and the option FE7 suspension got the 2.87

This was all in the '82 brochue on page 12.

I switched from 2.87stock to 4.10 and it was the single biggest performance change I have ever made. I word of warning though.
It of course screwed up my speedo which to this day I have not been able to fix. There are no speedo gears I know of that will correct it, so if anybody knows of any, please let me know.
