That was my Arizona "dry humor", I was in no way offended. Just trying to be funny.

My CE has been hit and totally repainted twice, Most of the stuff on it is still original, but it will never be a NCRS vette. My plan is to slowly do all the upgrades I want to it, and still keep it looking stock on the outside.
(Unless that wild hair kicks in again and I cut the top off, then I would own the only drop top CE around....Har Har Har!!!)
I could re-coup most of my cost in a rag top conversion with the sale of the rear hatch, and bronze T Tops... Crazy????
I would like to run in the 13's on the 1/4 mile, and autocross it a couple of times a year for fun, after that its cruising time...

Do you guys think I have been out in the Arizona sun to long???

Yes!

Mine isn't original either. It's been repainted and the fade-out stripes are no more. But I kind of like it without them. But then it loses its original look. The previous owner made a feeble attempt to restore the interior with silver seats and door panels. The colored inserts on the seats and door panels are a baby s%#* brown. What was he thinking? So I haven't made the decission if I should try to restore it to as close to original as I can, or just let it be. I change my mind as much as I change my clothes.

I've even thought of having it painted red, but i also like the original color.

I dunno, maybe the sun is getting to me too!

You can get a crossfire to run allot better than that. Theres a guy in Australia with an 84, and one here in Chandler Arizona, both of them dropped in a 383 with all the CFI stuff on top.
The guy in Australia has gone 12.45 and so far the guy here in AZ has run a 12.85 with a slipping tranny...

Thats C5 territory. and you still get to pop the hood and say " you got beat by a Crossfire"... :D :D :D

Went Sunday to the autocross, had a blast.. I still know how to spin-out, and after riding with my daughter for her first two runs, I let her go it alone for the other two runs.

Good news is she also knows how to spin-out in the vette.(It must run in the family)....And she can get lost all by herself even with orange cones pointing the way...

We are still smiling.... :D

All right Dawg! My wife and I are both autocross active with our '86. It is one h*ll of a good time. Next year, we are starting to do open track days at some road courses.

I figure if I don't loop it at least once, I'm driving too slow.

Who organized the event? The reason I ask, is that we have quite a few friends in AZ that are into the racing seen and was wondering if it might be their group.

Great to see one of our classic being used the way they were meant to be used..

Good Job Dawg (and Ms. Dawg)...

I run with the Arizona Region SCCA Solo II group. great bunch of people and some fun events...

I did one track event when I first bought the CE, and I really didn't like the chance of messing up and hitting a tire wall of berm. AutoX is so much safer and forgiving...

Although sometimes I really feel sorry for all those dead cones at the end of the day...

Good for you. We are SCCA So. Cal. Region. We got our feet wet in the autocrossing and really enjoy it. However, we like you, have a very nice car that is a daily driver and didn't want to risk any damage or breakage to the car.

So we bought an older C-4 that is intended just for competition events.

It's good to see people driving their cars the way it was intended.
