Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for your help and suggestions! I am thinking about cleaning up the carrier and repainting as part of some other general spiffing up, and wondering what the original color is or what others have used that gives a good look for this part. It is now some kind of kind of flat dark gray color and I'm not sure if thats what it started as.

Hi Rick,
Mine's the same. Kind of a dark gray fiberglass material. I had some rust on the "Y" strap, so I removed the rivets and painted the metal. Looks fine now. I live in New England, can't wait to get the Vette out of storage.
The winter is just too long in this part of the US.

Mine is covered in grime, but I think underneath it's dark flat grey...

Yep,checked mine out and it looks to be a flat gray also.Tom what state in New England are you located?

Just cleaned mine and its grey also. (that was after I cleaned out 20 years of dust and rocks. Spare was flat and except for being really dirty, doesn't look like it ever saw the ground.)
