Hi all, I'm new to the board & I just bought a CE (picking it up on Tuesday). :D

The CE is a mint, 2 owner local car from the local dealership. It still has the dealer badge on the back, the original bill of sale in the glove box & only 19,000 miles (31,000 Km) on the clock.
Get this, the original owner took the factory tires & rims off after only 1 week & put on a set of "Weld" spoked rims with new rubber. He then stored the originals safely away. They still have the nubs on the side walls, no curb rash, just pristine condition. I bet they even have the original air in them too, Sweet.

I only thing I really need to find is the handle for the rear hatch release cable. It got pulled off at some point. I don't know if it comes separately or if I need the complete cable assy. Could someone get me a part # or if they have a really good used one to sell, please let me know.

This makes #3 Corvette ( I think I need help :? )
The rest of the fleet :
An 82 Silver Green coupe (71,000 miles, Florida car)
A Red 85 coupe (33,000 miles, 51000 km).

My big decision now is, do I put the factory rims (with new rubber) back on & tuck the original rubber away or just leave the spokes on. I really like the look of the stock rims but the spokes do look kinda cool too!

This car will definately be kept as a sunny day, short cruise car. I hope to keep the mileage down with maybe an eye to an NCRS survivor title.

VIN: 1G1AY0783C5100781. If the info I have is correct, mine was the 779th one built. The ##'s started at 00001 & the #00017 vin plate was lost. Is this correct ??

Can't wait to get it home. :D

Hey another CE in mint shape here in the West. Mine is originally from Edmonton, bought in Kelowna but now in Victoria. I've got 26,500kms on mine. I get to Calgary regularly on business so maybe I could see yours sometime. It sounds great . Where did it originally come from? Does it have the CB radio ? Cheers Tao of Steve

Originally sold at Shaganappi Chev- Olds.
Next time you're in town drop me a email. The club here in Calgary ( Corvette's Unlimited) is quite active. Check out the web site for events.
Oh, no CB "good buddy".

Sounds like a great car you got there. ! Welcome to the 82 CE Registry.

Sorry i was trying to locate the part# for the hatch release but cant seem to locate it. Hopefully someone will come around and give you the part#.

Oh Man, I am stoked..... :D .....I just brought the CE home, gave it a nice bath & went exploring.

Right off the bat...........NO WATER LEAKS.......Whoo Hooo.

Next, I found the little hooky tool used for removing the center caps.

I even found the little hatch pull handle (hiding in the rear bin). The square head of the cable that was push fitted into it is still on the cable end.......bonus !! This will be an easy fix.

Those black finishers around the hatch hinges are fully intact....cool.

The struts look to be OEM & don't bang the window to the fully open position.

The rear hatch hinges can't be stretched at all cause the window opens & closes so nicely. The gap at the top is virtually the same all the way around the glass.

The OE removable floor mats are almost perfect, he had used other mats to protect the carpet.

The original rims (with the original rubber) really are absolutely perfect. I washed them down to get the dust off & found a #81 written in green grease pencil on the rear of one rim.......must be part of the factory QC check off ??

The cruise works & doesn't surge like my other 82....excellent.

The headlight doors pop right open, no delay & almost exactly at the same time. I've never seen that before.

She rides very nicely & has hardly an creaks or rattles.

The T tops have a very interesting locking slide on thingy. When you insert the key, the whole lock tumbler comes out when you pull the key back & then the slider pulls off. It's not like the current one's for sale that slide over the rubber handle & have a metal tab that rotates up to hold them on......... ??

On the down side:

The power antenna won't go up. I was sure it worked but since I had to fix the one on my 85 this should be relatively easy to resolve.
(EDIT: It just needed a bit of "up & down" exercise to get it working)
One segment of the display on the factory stereo is kinda dim.....I will wait for winter & pull the unit out to investigate that problem.
(EDIT: A friend in the club gave me a beat up spare unit with a good display....cool)
No space saver spare.......he's looking for it & was sure it was in the car when he bought it. Hope he finds it but I suspect the local Vette shop will have a few.

Can't wait for tomorrow..........lots more exploring to do.

If I didn't have my CE, I would want a silver green 82, man that thing is beautiful.

There, finally, a pix of the CE. :D

The spokes are growing on me, what do you all think. Keep them on or put the turbines back on :?: :?:

I will have to get new rubber anyway as those are about 24 yrs old. I think the white lettering is what it's missing.

Yeah, it definitly needs white lettering..

Sorry, but i dont like the spokes with the K/O's. Looks a bit Caddy-ish to me. Not my style, but it's your car, you need to like it..
