Hey folks, I'm new to this forum. I own an '82 CE with 454 original miles. I have a guy asking me to take pictures of the console plate ... But I don't think I've ever seen an 80-82 Vette with the console plate that the early 70's cars had.

By console plate, I mean the metal tag between the shifter and under the parking brake that would say the engine size, rated horsepower, etc. Did an '82 CE ever have one? Mine doesn't, and it's untouched.

 You are correct the 82 does not have one unless it was added by owner..

Welcome Mike.

WOW 454 miles, you didn't even wear the nubs off of the tires....

From all that I have seen the last 5 years, you may have the lowest mileage CE around. I think the one the NCRS bought, or was looking at a few years about had about 1200 miles on it...

I know there is a guy in Louisiana that had been trying to sell his- he owns a corvette salvage/ parts business- the name will come to me later- the car was never titled- still had the plastic on the seats , sticker, and paper floor mats- he hd very low miles on his- like 9 miles on it or something- if you watch online you will see them now & then like that for sale. But with only 450 miles on it after 25 years- would be hard for me to drive it! Must be a beauty!!!

Hi Mike,

Your deffinently going enjoy your low mileage vette. Are you planing on driving a lot or trailering the vette to events and crusies?

Yes, macuyver is right. We had a thread about that other 9 mile CE vette before Mark switched states.

That is correct everyone. '82's never had those plates installed.

Enjoy your vette.

Hi Mike ! Welcome to the 82CE Registry..
As the others have said: No console tag between shifter and armrest.. BUT: (And i cant confirm this, as i dont have it): I think the 82CE has a trim tag on the driver side of the console with the VIN#. Anyone care to confirm ?

I'll have to look for that trim tag - Now I'm curious! Thanks for all the info guys - I'll tell the person that was asking me that my initial hunch was right ... No such console plate in the '82 CE.

I've driven the car 4 miles. I bought it from a collector in Ohio at 450 miles. I have a collection of cars stored in a climate controlled facility that is coincidentally 4 miles from my house.

I travel about 50% of the time, so trailering it to shows is usually more time-consuming than I can deal with. Whenever I'm in town, I go see it nearly everyday.

The Vette sits with several other cars, to include a much more expensive Viper GTS. But everyone (to include my wife) thinks the Vette is the best looking car in the building. I agree ...
