It's pretty much the same as all C'3.Look to see if you have alum.trailing arms. That will tell you if yours came with the gymkana suspension.Look for rust on the farme.Take a real close look at the rear frame kickup for rust through(very bad) :( also check the underside of your core support.Other than that just look for the normal stuff. Can I ask how many miles are on the car?Let me know.Happy hunting. These are fun cars. They ride better than the other vettes, more lux.stuff. :D

That might help you.

Any model that is over a third of total production is not 'rare' in my opinion, but the CE's are definately desirable and collectible.

We have two appraisals on ours; one is $17k and the other is $18k and that was before restoring the interior.

Check the vin number thru www.carfax.com

We were about to buy a different '82 until we found it had not 80k miles, but 180k miles!

Ask the guy if he has had the trans. rebuilt. The reason is that 82 was the first year for the 700R4 and there were some reliabilty problems.By about 85 or so GM had worked out the bugs and made them much stronger. The CE I bought had 32,000 true miles. The owner was aware of this and had the trans rebuilt with the newer parts and while the trans was apart he had the shop put a shift kit in.I paid $17,000 and figure I got a good deal.It needed nothing.Brought it home from Tampa put it in a show and got best Vette award first time out.It means nothing to me as I had nothing to do with the car but it just shows that for a little money you can get a real nice Vette. What can you buy new for that, nothing I want.Hope it turns out good for you.Keep us posted!!!

Thanks guys keep the tips coming..He did say the trans was redone and they added a shift kit. I am going to meet him at a corvette shop here in town and have them look it over with me.
I trust them well as I have known them for the past 20 years and the owners son and I are very good buds...in fact I used to work for his dad on the weekends he would pay me in parts for the Vettes I was working on. If this works out it will be the 6th C3 I have had.
My web page has some pics of the ones I have now.

Steve

Congratulations!

Someone just snagged a nice CE on e-bay. Check this out:

I don;t think CE's are really all that rare . . . but nice ones are :)

I the true meanng of rare you are right. However, when I'm out and about with or without my Vette I see C3's quite often but I have never seen another CE.Even at a modest sized Vette show I don't see one.Everybody crowds around mine like it was a one of a kind and most don't even know the back window opens.

Obviously, with 6759 made they are NOT rare, it is even the most common color made of all '82's. BUT- by Most peoples opion, they are the nicest. They go for usually on average $3000-$5000 more than other '82's and as far as other C3's, Most people will take one over any other C3 xcept for maybe a 68-70 w/427/454. The 82 CE is without question THE most refined of all C3's. Wish I could have kept mine & got a new C6. Just my 2 cents
