They specialize in corvette interiors ONLY. I had a a interior specialist pu it in for me and he said it was a very good set. I did have a small problem ,when I got the set I found that the pieces that go on the back of the seat were cut about 3/16" to small all the way around, called them up and the sent me two new pieces XXL to custom fit myself.I know a couple of restoration shops use them. I called Rik's Unlimited Corvette Parts ( close to me in NC ) and he gets his carpets from the same manufacturer ( I can't remember the name! ) that Big Al does & is $ 100.00 CHEAPER! I still pay shipping & tax and still save almost $ 100! Big Al's website shows a price of $ 289.00 & when I questioned them about it, they refused to honor that price saying "There has been a price increase"! Maybe you guys got yours at the old price, but I won't pay that much for ANY carpet! Rik's has always been in line with everybody else, or even cheaper. If your not familiar with Rik's, check him out online, you might be pleasantly surprised. Thanks again to you guys for the suggestion. bigdaddy Back to top S Ridner Veteran Forum Member Joined: 10 Aug 2003 Posts: 75 Location: Macomb Mi Posted: 09 Jun 2004 08:43 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Al use to make his own Collectors carpeting. After reading this I called and talked to Dale whom I have done a lot of stuff with. Seems that you are correct that all Collector does come from the same place America Custom Carpet. Riks is a great parts source. Have done alot of business with Rik And Laurie and they are very reliable and get you the parts in a timely fashion and at competive prices. I do highly recommend Riks if you need a part. If you do, find some 1/8" masonite sheeting(like pegboard panelling without the holes) and lay your old side panels on and trace as a pattern. That is a good fix and the masonite stays stiff enough and bends just enough to work well. Use spray adhesive you can find at walmart or parts stores to affix the carpet. Also, while you have that old carpet out, get some good heat shielding and underlayment. You can find the aluminumized on ebay already precut and moulded. I cleaned my old floorboard down to bare then undercoated new and built everything up new to get any old musty smells out and make everything smell new and clean on those hot days. Take your time and make everything clean and new while you have it gutted and you will be happy you did later. Steve |
