Looking for some suggestion on where to begin troubleshooting this issue. My 16,000 mile CE was running fine. Bringing it off the interstate, I punched it for one last blast before parking it. As I turned on the access road, the car did not want to run, and kept wanting to stall. She limped home.

Now it will start everytime, but will no longer idle. Just keeps getting slower and slower until it stops. This take less than 30 seconds. Starts right up, and ditto. When I hold the gas pedal down to kep rpm's up, it still struggles somewhat to keep running.

All hose are connected and no vaccum leaks are noticeable.

Any suggestions before I take it in to get scanned?

I had a similar problem it turned out to be the fuel pump was bad you might want to put a pressure gage on it and check to see what your pump pressure is.
Also my car was low milage when this happen to me too. You can also check the fuel filter, that is cheap and it might take care of your problem

I will second the fuel pump, and probably the sock connected to the pump, after all of these years the sock has probably disintegrated or plugged with crap out of the tank.

It's an easy fix, you can change the pump and all right through the opening after you unbolt the fuel door from the rear deck. Just be sure to buy an 85 or newer pump for the added boost the new style pump gives you, it will hold the correct pressure even at full throttle.

It was the fuel pump! The sock was in great shape and the pump was working, just not enough volume to make her go! The gas hole could be a 1/2 an inch bigger and the job would have been a lot easier. Thanks to all who replied about the problem. Great Team!

Yeah I agree, that hole is just a little on the small side, but it does get the job done....

It's good to hear you fixed it, now the question is, did you get a 85 or newer pump for the little extra giddy-up it provides????
