Post subject: oil dip stick color
PostPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2005 8:33 am
In the latest issue of the NRCR judging manual it states that the oil dip stick handle for 1981 was green and for 1982 it was black. I have an original car with a green handle. I think that the factory had a supply of green ones and when they were used up the new supply or from the new supplier it was black. I would like to take a survey of when this change could have occured. If anyone is interested please send me your build date(Month and Year) and whether your oil dip stick handle is green or black. I will post the results when I get enough informatio to make a call. If we do not get this issue resolved you could lose points if you have a green handle because you have an "INCORRECT" oil dip stick. Thanks.

82's are green, it is a mistake in the Judging Manual, along with quite a few others.

The dipstick in my car is UGLY green. I'm pretty sure it's original.

Where can you find the date of manufacture besides the door sticker? Someone tried to clean the one in my 82

Do you have a build sheet? That will tell your date.

I sure don't have a build sheet. I suppose I should go ahead and get one, its not like I plan to turn loose of the car any time soon, so I should have one. :)

Guess it would tell me all the option codes and other neat stuff.....

Thanks

I dont think you can get a build sheet from the NCM for our VINs.. When i tried mine, it's in the "lost forever" range..

But, you can get a Original Dealer Invoice.. I think it's $50 at this point..

Well, I looked for my VIN and it looks as if I'm OK. the missing ones are above mine.

1982 - VIN numbers 109001 thru 117800, 118201 thru 118400, 119201 thru 119800.

So I will try to get one. I must have a very early car. (mine is 5408) The numbers thing is not for me but I see from the Black Book that the serial numbers are not unique to the Collector series as some of the others were. Our cars are just numbered as they came??? Anyway I hope I can get a sheet. :)

Good luck, i really hope they have yours.. 8)

And yes, we dont have a numbered sequence. Only in the Type Digit is the CE identified.. Not by the number sequence like other specials.. They got numbered as the orders came in, with any other 82 car..
