Hi,

We have to replace the door latch mechanism. I got a used one from a salvage place and we have the interior door panels off.

I see the the access hole near the bottom of the door, but is there any additional access to the inner door. I don't see how I could connect the linkage to the lock cylinder and exterior handle. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks, Tammy

Thanks Stefan,

We used some info from the site you provided and studied the replacement latch.

Luckily I have fairly small hands because it is a very tight fit in there. The trickiest part was replacing the mechanism for the key lock.

To get the retainer back on the base of the lock cylinder we had use some electrical putty to keep the retainer on the lock cylinder lever while I postioned it. Then I was able to slide the retainer into place with a flat blade screw driver.

It is all back together now and it works great!
