I have a pair of fairly new struts that I'd like to trade for a pair of used ones that don't push the hatch up but will kind of hold it up if manually lifted.

I would take you up on your offer, but my old struts just won't hold the glass eveytime, most of the time it slowly drops back down about halfway...

Good luck on your search :D

That's actually kind of what I'm looking for. They tend to do a little better in the cool Northwest. Wanna deal?

Sure, we can work something out. I believe the ones I have may be the originaL factory struts, or at least the correct replacements. They are not perfect, the are a little grungy, and the paint is faded some, but I will clean them up if you want.

Let me know what you want to do.

Mine are pretty much brand new and look as such. Thanks, but I think I'd prefer some that weren't grungy looking. Let me know if you're able to make them look good.
Thanks.

Well, some bad news. I tried to polish mine up, and most of the black is just to far gone, and the ends are still sort of grungy looking. I'm not even going to post pictures. :?
At least on my CE, I have tinted windows, and it's not a show car to start with. So you really don't see them.

Hopefully someone else will step in here and help you out.

AV8instyle:
I'll check mine, they are sitting in a box in the attic, after i replaced them with new ones. I should be able to make them look 'OK'. I am not sure though what condition they were in, holding up wise. I replaced them because the last i remembered they didnt push the glass up, but i am not sure whether they held it in place. It hadnt been opened in a while and i didnt try them when i got the new ones. Let me know if you want them, i'll clean them a bit and throw a pic your way.

Okay here it is:
http://laemmer.freeservers.com/html/extra/strut.html

Sorry the pics are a bit large, but i wanted to make sure you see them in detail. I cleaned them a bit, not too much. One of the ends is rusty and the other one is black (i checked my new ones, they are chrome?). Let me know if you want them. NO biggy if not, i'll just throw them back in the box in the attic.. 8)

Thanks anyway, but I'm looking for something a little cleaner. I prefer they not be full strength, but I live in Seattle and the rust is something I'd prefer to avoid.
Thanks again anyway.
