Hi all.

Is the original gas cap color black or off white/ tan for the 82 Collector?
The one I have on the vehicle is the tan one...I'm not sure if it was the one that came with the car originally.

Mine is a off white...kinda odd colour....but the car has only 15k miles & I believe it's probably an original cap.

Off white is the correct color, on the threads there should be a date code near the top.

I guess you have to be careful  when purchasing so called OEM parts from Ebay. Thanks again.

I might just buy one of those black caps just to have on my long trips. In and out of the gas stations. Unless theirs a NOS gas cap to find somewhere.

I keep using my locked gas cap all the time. Sometimes it's a pain but understandable.

With the cost of gas these days, locking gas caps should come standard  The black gas cap I speak of on Ebay comes shown in an AC Delco box. Guess it would fit 77-82 Corvettes. Looks like it could be original...and don't know why they would include an off-white one when the fuel area is all black :?

I'm Not an NCRS Expert, but I had a two owner, 9,000 mile (Thought to be 100% original) 82 CE back in the late 80's. It had a Black Cap As does my Current (too many owners to count) 28,000 mile . 82 CE.

Maybe some one with an 82 Judging manual could just confirm?

FYI: I have one of those "Gaud Awful" "original Green Oil Dip sticks in my basement, with a ton of other stuff. If someone wants to make me an offer. LOL

The reason I know is because I've been through NCRS judging and have a Mcllean Award, they never came from the factory black.
