Does anyone know of a vendor that is making hatch struts that fit?

I have Eckler's (see related thread) and they have to be installed upside down and both the end of the strut and the interior trim have to be modified to get them on.

The fit problem is that the '82 factory strut has a spacer on the tube end which is needed for clearance at the latch. This is the problem with Eckler's and also with '84 Corvette struts.

The functional problem is that some struts only dampen movement if intalled tube up, shaft down. Eckler's must be this way as the glass bangs open . . which I don't like.

I've ordered new standard struts which I will modify for a correct fit in the '82, but I thought I'd post anyway and see if someone knows a source for struts that fit before I go thru the trouble.

Steve.I went to the bodyshop today to see how my struts are installed but the car was still all taped off.Car is still in the booth. He had to reshoot my tailight coves because the paint came off when he removed the tape.I think mine are installed the right way but I haven't messed with the window for so long that I can't remember.
