Since we are experiencing hotter than:evil: temps, I was wondering what everyone is using to keep their weatherstrip from drying out. I have been using Meguiar's. Is there something better? |

I just use silicone grease and a touch of trim shine to make it look fresh. |

Gordon Killebrew, who helped build the 82, says to use dielectric grease on the weatherstriping. I think it is a little greasy, but I just wipe it off as good as possible. It works! Keeps it mosturized, and hopefully no cracks! |

I just use Armourall , never had any problem with that. I buy it by the gallon as I regulary use it on all my vehicles interior plastic / trim / rubber |

I used to use Armorall, untill I was told by many people to stop using it. So I did. |

Did they ever give you a GOOD reason why?? I would like to know what the reason is. I have been using it eversince I started driving (30 yrs) and have yet to have any problems. I put it on all rubber ,door seals etc. with good results. Maybe someone could recomend something that will last longer?? |

Me too. I've used it on everything since it came out back in the day without any problems. Even after the copycats came out. What I've been told is that it dries out the surface of the rubber/vinyl/plastic and causes a crust like surface to form. I've seen tires like that where they look almost "eggshelled", but I just thought they were old tires. So, I don't have first hand knowledge of these accusations, but have heard this from a few people. Use it for whatever it's worth. |

BTW I've tried the Black Magic tire & rubber treatment and it seems to work well, but leaves a messy film on the side glass. |
