Hi all..
after hijacking another thread viewtopic.php?t=122 (SORRY TOM!!!), i figured i'd open another one, see what kinda spotting you guys can do..

Here is the problem: Last year i had Ecklers 'repair' my radio, sent mine in, and after a couple of month of hassle (can you tell it still burns me ?), i got something back that looked a little like a 82CE radio, but is different. It has a DNR button on it (Digital Noise Reduction??), that i didnt have before and the location of the button is so, that the sliders for Treble and Bass are smaller then the one i had before.. Now, the radio works fine. The LEDs are working (mine had a problem with the minute LED), so thats not an issue, but for the money i could have added a modern radio, but had wanted my original (and insisted in every communication i had with them).. Ah well, way too late now..

Check out the link for a picture of the faceplate..

Anyone know if this belongs into an 82CE ? Maybe it's a later model 84 radio ?

Thanks in advance

:wave

Looked at my original Delco sound system Manuel and nothing their with the DNR on any of our system. I believe that is for an 82 pontiac trans am. BUT it's defenitly NOT for our 82 vette. You should contact them and return theirs for yours. Sounds like a scam....

Just looked at your picture 82ColEd and the reading on the flap that goes up for the cassette slides through. The original 82 CE radio should say 'Auto Reverse Cassette'. Not just 'Auto Reverse'.

Good luck on your decision on what to do.

:(

Thanks Iron82..

Dunno what i'll be doing.. It's kinda late for me to get back at them, but i might break down and buy a good original radio. As per my original invoice i had a Stereo w/cassette when the car was delivered to the dealer..

A T/A hu ? At least it's the same year..

Radio comes from a 1978 thru 1980 Vette. Dolby Noise Reduction for static control and certian types of tapes back then.

Update on more vechicles that had this DNR.

Yes, Steve is right on the year of vettes and also 78-83 for the Pontiac Trans Am, Firebirds.
How come they stoped making them for the vettes at 81 and continued through the Pontiacs? :o :o That's another thread for another time.

I would still look for our year. :D

Awesome Info (though of course, not that i like having being giving a 'wrong' radio from Eck.)..

I guess ebay would be the only place to find a 82CE radio w/cassette. Dang. Now i am getting mad at Eck again. I should really call them, but they were really crappy during this whole process and i'd rather not. Ah hoices choices.. Thanks again for the ID Guys..

Stefan,
Call Ecklers, tell them you have a top flight or gold class NCRS CE. and they have now screwed you because of their mistake with the radio... Don't hang up until someone there figures out how to fix their mess.

If you won't call them, then let me know and I will put the fear of the Dawg in them..

Damn son, I would be raising all kinds of hell with Ecklers about that stereo!, and I mean every dayuntil I got the original back! Do you have any serial #'s, etc., from the stereo? I would also find out whether Ecklers does the actual work on the radios or do they sub the work out? If they do sub out, get the place's name & start climbing their butts too. Tell both that you're sure the Better Business Bureau's & the State Attorney Generals' office would be interested in their ways of doing business! The local TV stations in their areas might be curious also!
I'm a vindictive s.o.b. when it comes to a business trying to screw me!!
Good Luck, keep us posted....

I don't think you need your "exact original" radio back, one from an 82 vette is all you need right???

Just don't let them get away with this, they are in the corvette business, they should know better...
